Diamond Communications Telemarketing Magazine Scam! Liars and Credit/Debit Card Theft

About mid September, I was on a small vacation with my fiance. I was out and about with people all around me. Crowds passing in masses at a time. I get this call from this "nice" lady on the phone talking about how I was entered into a drawing for $25K. Then she starts talking about free gifts with magazines; Since I was being so nice I get an extra for free. I start getting overwelmed with the information she's giving me about how they're only $3.95 and so on. Next thing I know she patches me over to some man giving me more overwhelming information. Having me repeat the number.

By this time I'm in a crowd with people talking all around me; My fiance asking questions. Then he starts spitting out about how it's only so much money a week. Then he says that you pay for so many months but you get magazines for twice that long. So I'm feeling overwhelmed and he's asking for my debit card number. I asked him repeatedly that I didn't like the idea, that I was in a crowd to maybe call back later when I can actually think clearly. He starts giving me excuses how this is a deal and that he would only 'hold' the money. He tells me he'd shorten the 'subscription' to half the amount and half the payments until I could pay. So I gave him my debit number but when he starts going over the numbers he then says that it'll hold $39 until I could pay but it won't draw it out. I start backing out, I didn't remember him saying anything about $39, that I don't think I like the idea. It's getting too much and I changed me mind. And now I'm thinking 'Oh no. This man already has my card.' He says that I don't have to pay yet. My fiance and I start walking through another big crowd, the telemarketer starts spitting out that it's changable and something about cancelling. I respond to my fiance, since he asked a question, with an Okay, then the man on the phone proceeds to tell me since I don't have any questions that I have his number to call him back. So he ends the connection.

So I'm standing there in a daze, thinking What in the world!? I tell my fiance about what just happened. He reassures me and says to just cancel when we get home. We get home and since I have online banking I checked my card. My card number was stolen Someone charged over $100 to a beauty online-shop. And there was the subscriptions $69 dollars! When he was only supposed to charge much less than that! So that makes him a liar. I want it cancelled. So I try to call the number to get it cancelled right away and the number doesn't go through. It says that all the circuits are busy to try back later. And I tried repeatedly, on which I got the same message. I go to my bank and cancel my card. I asked them if they could get any information on the company or a phone number that I could reach them. They had nothing but some merchant number.

It's been a month since then. I heard nothing from them, get no magazines. Now I have them calling me up on a 303 area code, which I take to be colorado, saying that I owe them money. The woman proceeds to tell me that I was charged $69 dollars and the card was reported lost/stolen and they hadn't gotten it yet. They say they have me on tape agreeing to the terms. That it's NON-CANCABLE! What!? And they're a subscriber company? What magazine tells you that you can't cancel a subscription. When have you been told about any subscription that you can't cancel!? They tell me that I would have to pay them 600 dollars up front to 'cancel' it. It wouldn't be canceled it'd give them all the money they wanted! They say that they had payed the magazine companies this amount for me and now I have to pay them back.

I not ONCE got ANY magazine in the mail. I thought you get a magazine and then you're billed. They weren't supposed to charge me that amount of money to begin with! They got no money; I got no product then NO DEAL! I told her that I have no money to give her that I didn't want it anymore and she started to get an attitude about it. Asking me why I agreed to a 600 dollar contract if I couldn't afford it, in another words down-grading me! What customer service does that!?

I talked to my fiance and father and they believe they're trying to scare me into paying them, that it's probably a scam. Saying I shouldn't pay them the money since I don't want it and I haven't received a magazine; that they never heard of a non-canceble subscription for magazines. I looked them up online and I'm shocked to find that I'm not the first they've done this to! Something needs be done about it.
