Mountain Area Communications
Theives disguised as a legit business

I recieved a call from MAC one afternoon while I was at work. The lady told me that I had recieved a $1500 shopping spree on the internet, no strings attached. She said I got a free magazine subscription, I just had to pay the shipping which was only $20 a month. I agreed to go through the process, but after I'd given my card number, they told me it was going to be $29 a month. I told them I wasn't interested at first because initially it was 10 magazines a month, but the $20 was for 4 magazines. I was told I could cancel within 30 days. They also said that I would not be billed for at least 2 weeks.
I repeatedly told them I was at work and couldn't talk, but they just kept pushing me and finally I hastily agreed... Dumb move.

Later that day I added up how much money I was going to be spending over the next 60 months on these four magazines and it added up to $1745.40. I was shocked. I immediately called MAC back on both of the numbers I was provided and could not reach them at either number.
The next day I had a small charge from a random company saying that the day before I had agreed to this small incentive that was a part of the shopping spree. I cancelled that immediately and got the number for MAC and called them because I had a $39 charge cycling in my bank account.

The lady on the phone told me that I could cancel my order, so i did. I then called the magazine company and directly cancelled my order through the magazine company. I thought I was through with this.

A month later, I had a charge on my account from MAC for $29.09. I never used the shopping spree and I neve saw a thing about the magazines I was supposed to recieve. So I called MAC to find out what the deal was.

The lady on the phone told me that I was told I couldn't cancel my order and if I did, I should hav recieved a conformation number. The woman i had talked to before didn't give me a number. Then she said I could cancel but I had to pay 70% of my bill which was $390. I told her that I had cancelled my card and I refused to pay. She responded by saying that they'd just send me bills in the mail and if I didn't pay, it'd go to collections. I told her that I hadn't recieved anything from them and I wasn't going to give them a dime. I find it convinient that they recorded everything I said, but that they were not recorded when they supposedly "explained" everything to me the first time.
