I need help! What can I do? Apparently, I am one of the lucky ones. I only had a credit card with them. However, they never made any money on me other than vendor fees.in July I made my payment, as usual, for the full amount of my bill at 1:53pm on the due date of July 29th. Their statements clearly state that payments made before 5pm will be credited the same day.
When I got my Aug. 2008 statement I discovered that they had added $30.50 for late charges. I sent them a copy of my confirmation for the July payment. They eventually took the July charges off but not the additional monthly late charges on the late charges that I never owed in the first place.
Around the beginning of Oct. I received a letter from Jeethender Raj, Customer Satisfaction Dept. With a telephone number to call for assistance. When I called & complained that they were still charging me late charges on charges that they had already reversed & I wanted credit for the additional charges because I obviously didn't owe them; he told me that the system doesn't work that way. He then went on to threaten me that I had to pay these charges or suffer serious consequences. As a retired accountant, I know that any overcharge can be credited. I told him that I wasn't going to pay them & I was throwing my credit card away & to cancel my acct.
I turned to Equifax for help but they never did anything for me. I then turned to the BBB for help & they sent me a copy of a note from BOA stating that they would contact me within 5 days. 2 weeks later I told BBB that I had never heard from them. They contacted BOA again & then dropped my case. Neither Equifax nor BBB wanted me to send copies of my confirmations which is my only proof. More proof than BOA has that my payments were late. I think they must be on BOA's payroll.
