I have a binding quote from Relocation Express, Inc. A moving company located at 6035 Northdale Street, Houston, Texas, 77087 phone number 713-688-1819, DOT number 1783636, MC number 653782. This company gave me a binding estimate based on an inventory I provided. The estimate was $1,049.00. They were scheduled to pick up my merchandise Saturday afternoon, they picked up the merchandise on Sunday at 10:00 pm and finshed about 1:00am. I was not in Texas so my sister took care of it. On the day of the move after the packed all the merchandise they more than double the estimate to $2,362.00. They have my merchandise in storage so I am trying to solve this problem before they move my merchandise to Florida.
I have asked them to review my inventory since I also had a binding estimate from a company that actually went out to the apartment and looked at my merchandise and the weight and cubic feet is consistent with the original estimate quoted by this company. Since the delivery has not been made I would like to know who can help me to review my merchandise before they make the delivery.
Is there a company or organization that can help me check on the cubic feet or weight so they don't rip me off. Can I force them to get to a weihgh station before they make the delivery? I do not want my merchandise taken hostage if I refuse to pay this exhorbitant amount of money but I don't know what to do. My delivery is scheduled for August 15.
