I bought two of these Forever doors for storms when redoing my home. It wasn't long before the back door had the latch fall apart and I couldnt find replacment parts at Home depot where I had bought the doors or any harware store know to man lol I had caught my finger in the door latch after it broke and wouldnt close properly and needed stitches in my middle finger. I have a scar now there. I repaced the latch and though it was a fluk accident that I got hurt.
Now I dont think so because the front latch is now not latching anf my grandaughter caught her finger in it. It nearly cut the tip off in the latch of the front door in the same way I was hurt in the latch on my back door. We have the doors doors sticking all the time. They don't close properly no matter what you do. The latches are dangerous because I now have two identical accidents wiuth this door latch.
The brass finsih is so called guaranteed but when you ask them to replace it they dont. The finish that is supposed to be brass is horrible after just a few months. They dont want to replace the defects in the doors or the latches and I think I paid a total of 500 for both doors plus instalation to the cost of 250 so this is an expensive repair to replace these doors becuse the parts can be found only thru Emco and they are NO help at all in getting this resolved.
They want me to invest another 100 dollars to replace the latches that are defective and dangerous and didnt even mention the door defects of not closing properly and always sticking and not closing all the way no matter what repair we try. Dont buy these doors. I have put pressure on Home depot not to sell them anymore because of the defects and dangers. I am warning other people to never to to close this door if it sticks becuse you will get cuaght in the latch and cut yourself badly. It takes a punch out of your skin the size of a dime and I am not kidding it can cut the tip of a childs finger off!
