We stayed at Summer Brook Apartments in 2006. The place was somewhat adequate and the climate control was fine until the Texas summer arrived with 106 degree temperatures every day in July and August. During the day with AC on full blast, the coolest temperature we were able to get in the apartment was about 85 degrees Fahrenheit. This made living conditions very difficult and unhealthy. The management claimed that the AC units were adequately sized for all the apartments. But we learned that they installed same size AC units in 1 bedrooms on the ground floor as they did in ours, a 3 bedroom on the top floor. We had to move to another place because living conditions in that apartment were impossible. Summer Brook filed with collections agency for the 2 months left on the lease. We just found out about the collections and will be filing a lawsuit.
We recommend to potential future tenants of Summer Brook, "buyer beware". Anyone dealing with them should be very careful. They will not mention certain things about the units in order to get you to sign the lease. And you wont know about the problems until they surface. We recommend staying away from that place. Today there are better, newer apartment complexes available in Longview, TX. We suggest looking around first. If you MUST for some personal reason rent from Summer Brook, make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing.
