I was lucky, I guess... Three Day Cancellation got through and check was not cashed

So on April 25th, I was coaxed into ordering a magazine, but one of their "handicapped" salesmen. At the moment of the sale I must have been drunk or something, but about 30 minutes later I got online and saw all these reports. I filled out the cancellation slip and made a copy of both the front and back of both the slips they gave me and ran to the post office and sent it out using certified mail (the tracking says it got there by April 28th).

I have the stub and the receipt stating the all information that is correct. It took them till May 4th to enter the data into their system, as I checked on their website www.ecrnaples.com (This i found by searching "editor & chief review" with quotation marks in google). It says online that my current status is "3 Day Cancellation, " which should mean that it has been received. The online system, however, also stated that the address is the one on my check not on slip. I rarely use checks (only rent) and they worked so far, so I thought there is no point in ordering new ones.

I called the next day, May 5th, and got Isabel on the phone that told me they did not need the corrected address and that my check had been destroyed. This raised my eye brow because I had not heard any story like that online and it seemed too easy, compared to what I have read here. I called again the following week and got a Matthew on the phone, he gave me the same information. I called again last week and the week before, and got Matthew on the phone again. These two calls were done by a family member present. I asked specifically what happened to my check, if my cancellation was received and if they need the updated address. Both times I got the same information:

1. Check was sent to be destroyed to THEIR bank
2. Cancellation received
3. No new address needed
4. No written confirmation of cancellation

I kept details notes of everything, so I hope that will help me if anything happens.

This all seemed too easy, so I keep checking my account and ask my bank if the check number has been seen. They say no, so I am guessing I got lucky. Those anybody think otherwise?
