I was contacted on March 6 by a man who called himself Don Wilson. He said that I was about to be prosecuted for a debt in the amount of $400 and some odd dollars. He had my bank account information, social security number, address and everything. He did call me by middle name which was Renee'. He was a foreigner and I thought that he said Pay Pal was the creditor so I thought that this was a legitimate debt. He asked me if I would like to settle this out of court and of course I told him yes.
So he said the amount to settle out of court was $1125 and he set me up on a payment plan. The first payment would be $400, the next $362 on March 20, and the remaining payment of $363 was to follow two weeks later. During this course of time I had problems making the payments as I had agreed so I paid the $400 on March 6 and $300 plus $15 transaction fee on March 20 with my debit card.
Then Mr. Wilson called about a week later and said that he was being transferred to a different office and gave me the phone number of 201-709-8882 to call to make my remaining payments. So, I paid $300 plus a $18 transaction fee with a different debit card and the remaining $125 plus an $8 transaction fee on my friends credit card.
On June 3, I opened a piece of mail from the same company that I thought I had just paid off to find that I still owe the debt. So, I contacted Paypal to let them know what was going on. After which, I contacted Don Wilson to see exactly what company I am paying off and he proceeds to tell me that I have resolved the matter and there is no reason to contact them further.
I asked him again the company name that I was paying off and he tells me that they are collection agency for TJF Corporation and gave me the phone number, which was 347-246-5183. I called this number and spoke with George Davis who tells me that their company is over numerous Pay Day Loan companies. I got to thinking that I haven't had a payday loan using the account that they gave and my email address.
So, I told him I needed to know what company it was so that I can mark them off as paid. He tells me " what more assurance can I give you, you don't owe any other payday loan companies." So after going back and forth for about 10 minutes, he said it seems like the problem is you want your money back. He said, "I can give you your money back and just contact my attorney and we can go from there."
I told him that if this is a legitimate debt than know I don't want my money back, all I want to know is the company that I have just paid off which he still was unable to give. I again contacted the company the next day after reading usacomplaints. Coms about them and the man that answered the phone would not give the phone to George Davis, the guy that I had previously spoken with. He proceeds to tell me that he was in a meeting with their attorney discussing my case.
I said well good because I just notified the police. After saying that, the guy went crazy. He was hollaring, "I don't care about the police, I don't care, I don't care, " and hung up. I wish that I could have understood the man the first time they called because I haven't even had a payday loan. I have applied for them but never went through with them.
