I was looking for some direction in my life because I was going no where. I was in and out of trouble and like I said, needed some guidance. I have always been interested in computers, and saw the ITT-Tech commercials on T.V. All the time, so I decided to go down there and see what they were all about. As soon as I walked in there, they called a 'recruiter' up to see me and we went back to talk about the school. He asked me what I was interested in and I told him that I was interested in computers, more so computer programming, developing software, or working for some security company doing computer programming. He then suggested that I get into the 'CEET' Program there at ITT-Tech. The CEET program doesn't have anything to specifically do with 'computer programming' but more so 'electronic engineering.' This particular program (ceet) has a lot to do with 'electronics' and 'electronic boards' not computer programming, so I thought this was a little bit weird. Then we talked about this program called 'SAP' Software Application and Programming, I was really interested in this, it sounded exactly like what I wanted to do. So I was all excited, and I brought my dad back there, and eventually signed up for school under the 'SAP' Program.
Well it was about one week before school was going to start, and I was wondering why I had not received my schedule. I called ITT-Tech up and spoke with my 'recruiter' and he informed me that "we did not have enough students to start this program up for this quarter." But he insured me there was a simple solution to this; "We can switch your program from SAP to CNS (computer networking systems) temporarily for this quarter just to get you started and then switch you back into SAP before the next quarter starts, we do this all the time, it is not a problem." So I went along with it, they are an all powerful educational institution and they wouldn't lead me down the wrong path right? Wrong, it couldn't have been any further from the truth.
So I attended school and took the three classes that were required for any of their programs there at ITT-Tech, and I Aced all three classes, only to get a 4.0 for my first quarter. Probably four or five times, I tried to talk to the program director for my program about switching me back into my original program 'SAP'. Every time I talked to this guy he said to me "Oh we have plenty of time, don't worry about a thing, we will get you switched, we have PLENTY of time." Well about one week before the quarter was up I was really nervous, all the other students were getting their schedules and I still am not in the correct program, and didn't have my schedule. Well I set up a meeting with the assistant dean, and the registrar to try and find out what was going on, and why I hadn't been switched yet. I set up the meeting for 5:30 P.M. On a particular Monday afternoon. I showed up at around 5:20 P.M. And the assistant dean didn't show up until around 5:45 P.M. Only to inform me that we would have to re-schedule the meeting at 7:20 P.M. When I go on break. I was a little ticked, but okay I will deal with it. So the meeting comes up at around 7:20 and this is what I found out: "Well the program you are trying to switch into is too far along in the 'core' classes so we can't put you in there, you will be too far behind, also we are getting rid of the SAP program and replacing it with another one." Okay just great, so what do I do I asked? The assistant dean says to me "Well there is a new program coming out in eight months, but you wouldn't be able to start that program then, because you already have taken the three classes that they will be offering at that time, so you can wait 12 months and switch into the new program." So their brilliant solution would be fore me to wait around for almost one year for a new program to develop. YEAH RIGHT!
What kind of solution is this? I came to them at a time when I was very vulnerable, looking for some direction in my life. They promised me an education in computer programming just to get me signed up for school, then they totally switched everything they said to me. I feel like this is a total BAIT AND SWITCH, and I know i'm not the only person they are doing this to. Does anyone have any advice? Doesn't it seem like bullshit? How can a professional educational institution LIE right to people's faces, just to get them signed up. I feel like I didn't sign up for school, rather I went to a 'used car salesman.'
