I ordered a Sleep Comfort bed in December and the charge was made to my credit card on the same day. The web site tells you how well made the bed is and how great the mattress is but they don't tell you that if you don't like the product or if they send you the wrong item YOU will have to pay to send the bed back.
I was quoted on a bed that should have been 13" off the floor, the sale person neglected to tell me that the base included the first mattress. The price included a Supreme Mattress which should have been 9" to 10" thick and extra firm. The mattress I received was only 7" thick and was not firm. The salesman said the bed would be made after I ordered it to insure it would be as I wanted. This was not true the mattress I got was made in November of yet they didn't deliver it until January and it was not what I ordered.
Since I didn't get the correct merchandise, I called and spoke with Lisa on 01/06/09, one day after it was delivered, to ask for a return authorization number, she refused to give me one. Sleep Comfort customer Service Personnel would not let me talk to any other person. Lisa told me I had to keep the bed for 45 days. Although I sent a picture to Lisa, she insisted I had received the bed they quoted. I have a bad back and I could not sleep on the bed Sleep Comfort sent me.
If you are disabled or elderly, Sleep Comfort doesn't care they only want your money. They mislead you by phone and by the ads on their web site. I was told if I requested another mattress I had to pay for the shipping it back and I would have to pay to have a private company come to my house, pack and ship the bad mattress back to Sleep Comfort. Remember you have to Pay for both Shipping and it is expensive.
Since this purchase is not as quoted I wanted Sleep Comfort to pick up their bed. If I sent it back without a return authorization number they would not accept it. I had to keep the bed in my house for 45 days and then I paid over 500.00 to ship it back to Sleep Comfort. Like most obtuse people, Lisa dug in her heels and refused to accept the fact her company, Sleep Comfort sent the wrong bed. The president, Brian Thomas, [email protected] never answered any of my e-mails. He allowed Lisa to handle all correspondence although she is incompetent.
The Better Business Bureau was no help, they wanted me to go to arbitration in which Sleep Comfort would reduce the price of the bed by half. I would be stuck with a bed I could not use because in arbitration you are legally bond to the arbitrators decision.
I explained to the sales person, before I ordered the bed, that I had several operations and I would need a bed that would protect my back. I emphasized it had to high enough off the floor so I could get out of bed with ease. He said a 10" thick mattress on a bed 13" off the floor would work. I stressed the point that I needed an extra firm mattress. The sales person promised me that Sleep Comfort was the best bed on the Internet.
I am up loading a picture of the mattress I received the quality is poor and it bends in the middle like it was a fold up mattress.
I finally purchased a bed from a hospital store on the Internet If you go with any other company do yourself a favor and check all the web sites showing any complaints about the company you will be buying from. Also If you purchase a bed don't sign the contract without putting in an option that if you don't get the correct bed then you will not be responsible for the cost of returning the bed. If the company signs the option they will have to pay for shipping and handling the bed then you will be off the hook for HIGH SHIPPING CHARGES
4 weeks after Sleep Comfort received the bed they processed a credit. The charged the bed four weeds before I received the bed. Reliable companies charge after they ship an item.
Questions you should ask
1. When they send you the contract add two lines that will protect you if you get the wrong bed. Make sure the height of the bed, the height of the mattress are on the contract. They told me that the mattress can range from 1 to 2 inches. So if you buy a 9" mattress they can send you a 7" mattress. My bed was 1" shorter than I was quoted and the mattress was 2" shorter then quoted. This way you are protected, if they won't accept the amended contract move on.
2. How much does the bed weigh. If you are not able to make any adjustment and they are not going to pay for installation then move on.
3. Ask for the price of shipping? They will always tell you it is free but lock them down to a price then you will know the what it cost to return the bed. Also call other packing and shipping company to get the price for them to come into your home, pack the bed up and ship it back. This way you will know the true price to ship it back.
4. Ask them why you have to pay up front for a bed that you will not receive until 4 to 6 weeks. If they won't take a down payment then move on it's not worth it.
5. Ask how long will it take to get your money back after they receive the bed.
6. If you still buy the bed, when the people come to install it please lay on it and test it out. Make sure you can get in and out of it with ease and is the proper firmness if not DO NOT sign the shipping release. Then they will have to take it back and you should not be charged for the shipping because it is free. If you sign the release you have to pay to send it back. Also make sure you check your property for damage the guys who delivered the merchandise have that box checked before you sign it.
