I was called by a Mr. Cody Shandraw contacted me a few moments ago saying he had a buyer for my timeshare. It was strange since I never contacted him or his office about selling my timeshare.
Anyway... He said that there was a buyer that was looking for a timeshare where I had mine, for the week that I had mine for. He gave me an offer price and I accepted. Then he said he needed $1298 for a FTR (financial transaction report) as well as for a first writer refusal clause. I have no idea what those are but he explained that he needed to verify that the timeshare is mine, is in good standing, no mortgage remaining on the property and that the fees were up to date.
I told him I'd call him back in a few minutes. I did a little research and the number he called me from was different than the number he gave me. That was odd. I also looked up the address I was given but could not find the business name under that address. So I decided it was a scam.
Cody called me back a few minutes later asking for the credit card info. I told him that if he had a buyer right then and there, have him pay the fees and I would drop my price lower by $3,100. What buyer would pass that up? He gave me some lame excuse and I knew right there this company is NOT legit!
Be careful. Do your research BEFORE you pay for anything. You should receive a contract before you pay for something too... Not the other way around.
