I wrote an email online to obtain a quote of a moving company. Thinking that only one company would contac me later. About an hour later I received a phone call from a moving company giving me an estimate for about 4,800 dollast to move from San Diego to washington state. The Representative told me that she will call the following week to touch basis with me for the estimate and if I had receiveda any other estimates from other companies I told her "no".
Couple of minutes later, I started receiving multiples phone calls from different area codes. And no messages. After couple of hours more than twenty calls later and emails, I answered one phone call from Orbit van llines. The representative named FELIX politely asked me for the items that I will be moving. I gave him a ruff estimate of the furniture that I have on my condo. He estimate me a 1,800 quote including the truck, 30 boxes, and the delivery. At that time was too good to be true. He told me if I book with him the same day we will gave me a 10% discount and the total estimate was going to be about 1,600.
Including taxes, gas, 30 boxes, and my moving will be in Washington state between three to five days. I was super exited. I told the Agent (Felix) that I have to talk to my husband and talk about it.
When I told my husband he reluctantly belive the great deal. My husband contacted FELIX about an hour later. When he called instead of identified of the name of the company, they answer "MOVERS" (Any legitimate company will clearly answered the phone with the name of the company). Felix inmediatelly told my husband that he will call him back. Minutes later he call my husband from a different area code and identified himself as FELIX, not with the name of the company.
Felix told him the same great deal and if he pay today with him he will honor the prize he gave me. When my husband ask him what if we have more stuff the representative told him that they never go over weight. When my husband keep insisting about other chargers and over weight charges Felix reply don't worry that never happen, but never provide any solid information about the charges. My husband told him that he will contact him on the following day. This was pretty new for us but we didnt understand, why a moving company was so aggresive on selling you a deal? Specially when you have to come with that much money on the spot.
We were still really reluctant, why the prize is so slow? And Why he was so insistant in take the deposit that day with such a ruff quote and no exact information about additonal charges? I decided to call about 10pm the same telephone number that Felix told me during the day.
Any legitimate bussiness would have a profesional answering machine service. When I call the number one man answered on the first ring saying "service". I hang out.
The same night, I looked information on yahoo and google of the company to look for more information. I read the Rip off reports. And I really figure everything out.
The following day about 8am, I received couple of phone calls from differents area codes. When about two hours later I answer my cel phone the person told me Ilsa this is Felix. He never identified himself as the company name again. (Making me believe that not even him remember what company name does he used).
I told him "yes I remember you I was looking online yesterday information about your company and I read that is a rip off." "I'm not interested in doing bussines with you because I dont belive you guys are running a legitimate bussiness. He reply "ok have a good day" and hang out.
Any legitimate bussiness would never accept that type of accusation and will transfer me to at least a costumer service representative or a supervisor if the alegations are not true. At this time all the multiples phone calls from random area code on my cel phone seized including the emails.
I belived this company are running multiples scams and using differents area codes and representing themselves as a various moving companies. Don't use this company and never give your credit card to this people.
