Beware of telephone calls. I accepted in good faith a call from RFK Solutions the first week of September of '08 inquiring about my Timeshare. I had two units with RCI, one week each, that would expire the end of September. RFK Solutions wanted to rent them as they had five people interested in vacations on the east coast, particularly in DE and NJ. They could rent them for $2,100 and $1,600 per week. (To me that was too good to be true! And remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it's not true! Hind sight only now!) The fee for rental was astronomical... $996.00 to be exact. That's $1,000. Simple math reveals I would be receiving $3,700; a profit of $2,700.
Mistake #1 - I agreed to their terms and paid by credit card. The first red flag warning of a wrong doing is when they failed to overnight my contract. I received the contract (looked authenic to me) six days later; signed it and mailed it the same day with a postmark of 9/12/08. With simple math computational skills employed here, this reveals six days for the contract to get to FL based on the same amount of time it took to get here. That leaves only 12 days to rent the units. One must keep in mind that seven of those 12 days would be considered vacation week. Now figure that!
More math... Based on the above and the fee charged, advertising costs per day for two rentals equals $199.20. This is fraud from the word go and how stupid and gullible I was!
2nd red flag is when I called RFK Solutions in October to get my rental check and requesting to speak with the person who signed the contract and original phone contact (Virginia White), I was told she doesn't work here. Then I was referred to Rudy who also spoke to me during the original contact by phone. I then asked for the extension listed on my contract of 210 and was told they have no extension 210. He said the units didn't rent but he could rent them later. There was no later, they expired in September! Then I knew for sure that I was scammed at age 76! I should be smarter. Other details of fraud too numerous to mention.
For the good part of this nightmare. They were investigated by the Credit Card Company and by the Attorney General's Office Bureau of Consumer Protection, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and found guilty of "not delivering services promised" among other things. My money was returned to me.
Please encourage others to follow through if they have been wronged.
A word about the Rebuttals, I read them and do believe the scammers are speaking positive messages to build the reputation of RFK Solutions. Beware!
