As an ex employee of this franchise, I was brought on at $9.50 with the promise of some incentive. At this time I had 3 ASE certs and about 6 years experience. They said that after my initial 90 days that I will be evaluated on my work quality and performance. Their commission scale goes as follows.in order for you to earn some incentive, one has to earn 5 times the amount of hrs you put in for the week. Example @ 9.50hr you would have to earn them $1900 (your "bogie") before being able to earn a percentage of money. Get this, here is the catch. You have to pass your "bogie" 2 weeks straight before seeing any possible incentive, oh not to mention you only get 10% of what ever overage. This whole process begins every month by the way, a sort of clean slate program.
After my 90 days have passed, I had to remind the manager about getting the raise I rightfully deserved. I have properly repaired and diagnosed the vehicles I have put my hands on in a more than timely fashion, even became their " alignment master ". The big raise I got was a whopping 50c. Yes you read it right $. 50. Here I am expecting a substantial pay increase since I have been working some times 6 days a week, properly repairing vehicles and earning good faith with their customers. Praised for rapid service and proper diagnosis. Not to mention repairing another "mechanic's" blunders. Just because the "mechanic" is older does not mean he knows what he is doing, trust me I have seen my ex-coworker miss diagnose plenty of things and mess up royally.
I eventually got another big raise of $. 25 and was made more promises so I would stay. I was now there for 6 months and frustrated with them but did not let it deter my performance and quality of work. Another tech was hired on and was less experienced than myself and had no certifications, I had to serve as a mentor to him and help him along with difficult jobs. I found out they hired him at a higher pay rate than what I was at ($10.25 he was paid $11)
I eventually found another shop to work at and had a substantial pay increase. This is not a good franchise to work for. You can "Trust" them to underpay their employees, sell you some un-needed services and in this stores case treat you differently if you have an accent and are not white!
