Readers DigestPublishers Clearing House Fraudulant letter and check

I received the fraudulant letter and check under the letterhead of Publishers Clearing House and supposedly sponsored by Readers Digest. The letter was postmarked from Canada and the Bank was Wesbanco of Pennsboro. W. Va. And also supposedly was being handled by an IRS agent. The whole thing was so suspicious that I checked it out on the internet and found out it was, indeed, a scam.

I find this an atrocity to naive and unsuspecting individuals and wonder what is being done to protect them from these scam artists that continually think up new things to take money from people who cannot afford it. I would think that large, legitimate companies would be working night and day to protect their image from these scams.
