The stamp on the envelope says canada but the address on the letterhead says colorado. The check is drawn on wells fargo bank west, na in parker, co. The letter says i have been randomly selected by computer and have won the readers digest second quarter of 2008 sweepstakes totalling $57,000 us dollars. The check enclosed was for $3984.45 and was suposed to cover "administrative taxes" and "clearance fees". I am supposed to call Erica Mcdaniel at 1-514-690-9253 to "authorize my check" and "activate" it.
They also mention Publishers clearing house in the letter to make it seem legitate. I verified the routing number on the check and it is actually good. How are these people doing this and not being sued by the victims or readers digest and publishers clearing house. I am so glad I found the other report on this site that has to be the same scam with just a different name (tch foods or whatever)
