Like several others who have submitted consumer complaintss, I fell for the $. 05/minute rate and the promise of a $50 check. After 2-3 months, I received my Verizon bill and found that all the long distance calls were billed at $. 21/minute, regardless of whether it was a 'day' or 'night'call.
The 1-800 number on file with Verizon has been changed to a 1-900 number, which instructs you to use the national directory service, at a charge of $1. While prowling through one of the other 'reports' I found a number which allowed me to reach a person (Luis), who promised to cancel the service and arrange for a refund of the overcharges. Only time will tell if this happens in a timely fashion.
