I purchased my 2004 G35 Sedan brand new, and immediately began experiencing brake problems. The brakes started squeaking the same week I bought my vehicle, and I returned it to the service department at Glendale Infiniti, which is where I purchased the car. They advised me that Infiniti was aware of the brake problems with this particular model, and that nothing could be done about the squeaking.in fact they gave me an identical loaner car while they performed the service, and that car had brakes that squeaked too!
During the first three years I returned to have the brakes serviced repeatedly. The car was under warranty at that time, so aside from the inconvenience of having to take it in I was not out of any money. However, since the service warranty has expired I have spent thousands of dollars on service, most particularly the brakes. My car now has 50,000 miles on it, and last April I had the brakes replaced yet again. Today I took it in and they charged me another $747 to perform the same service in less than a year's time.
The service managers are always very apologetic and are very much aware of the problem. Yet Infiniti has done nothing about it. At the very least there needs to be a recall on this vehicle. They were aware of this problem when I purchased the car new back in 2004. (Had I been aware of it, obviously the purchase would never have been made.) I have talked to other G35 owners who sit around the service lobby and commiserate, yet all of us feel helpless when it comes to doing something about it. I filed a recall request report on the Infiniti website. So far nothing.
Infiniti has consistently maintained that there is no safety hazard and that the squeaking is a nuisance at worst. Ha! Tell this to the other folks out there on the road who hear me squeaking up behind them and often pull into another lane to get out of the way. Talk about embarrassing! And this after spending hard-earned money to have the brakes repaired. (I'm talking the day of the repair)
Something MUST be done.
