G35 brake problems not being dealt with by Infiniti

Let's start with the proof... Go to the following link to obtain verification that a representative portion of Infiniti G35 (sedan and coupe) owners are having this problem and it is NOT being addressed by Infiniti. Statistically speaking (after some research) most all owners see braking issues but only a fraction report it. Most will not or get rid of their cars before reporting.

I purchased my 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe used with 15,000 miles on it. At 22,534 miles my brakes were shot. I went in to have them inspected and was told that they were completely worn and needed replacement. After checking, I found that the previous owner of the vehicle also had to have the brakes replaced before my purchase at 15k miles. My local Infiniti dealer, Towbin Infiniti, replaced the brakes at no cost only after I showed them the TSB's and other info.

After about 5k miles, my brakes started squealing and squeaking again with severe "grabbing" at times. To define severe, I was slowing (normally) for a stoplight and, suddenly (at about 25mph), my car stopped... Not slowed quickly... STOPPED! My girlfriend was rummaging in her purse when it happened and the contents went all over the dash in front of her. The car behind me had to literally lock up its brakes to not hit me. This has incurred with shocking frequency over the last 3k miles. I took the car to my local dealership, Towbin Infiniti, and, as usual. No help there with the normal lack of any helpful advice or information. Even when I confront them with reams of paperwork and complaints they still just blow it off. Of course Towbin going through Service reps like tissue paper doesn't help! I was told that my front pads had 50% left while my rears had 70% left. I even offered them a TSB bulletin with a guide on replacing the front brake shims that may help the problem but. No... I had no problem according to them.

I am now at 34500 miles and my brakes squeal and groan severely when reversing at slow speeds. Grabbing has become a irritating fact of life. Having called Infiniti Consumer affairs (should be renamed Consumer Irritation) and been told that this was normal... It's "normal" to have thousands of customers complain about this apparently... I am now left with no way. Other than legally, to get Infiniti to fix a very defective product.

Lastly, I have a ridiculously compromised resale value as how can I sell a car that has KNOWN brake problems without disclosing the fact that the new buyer will need to spend hundreds of dollars a year to "stop gap" fix a ongoing defect with this car.

My advice to anybody thinking of buying a 2007 Infiniti G35 is too think carefully before you inherit this headache automobile. It may be fun to drive but it'll cost you in time, money, and patience.
