I was looking through Craigslist listings for a part time job in my area when I came across the entry for Data Entry/At Home Work. They only asked for a copy of my resume and a short paragraph as to why I should be hired for the job.
A few days later I recived an email from David McGregor asking me to answer a few questions about basic knowledge. The email also stated should I be accepted as an employee, funds would be mailed to me. $100 for a signing bonus, $100 to purchase an accounting software program, as well as a laptop and 4 in 1 printing system. It asked that I lastly include my full name, telephone number, and address, as well as how I would like the funds sent to me.
A single day later I recieved an email stating that I had been accepted and that a supervisor would be in touch with me over the weekend. But prior to their call, I should take the checks that had been sent out, cash them, purchase the software program, remove my signing bonus, and send the remainder of the money Western Union to a man in Florida who would send me my equipment. That same day, I recieved two money grams FedEx, totalling over $1700!
At this point, my interest was turning to dread, and I started researching the company. I was unable to find a website for the company (they previously said it was under construction), as well as another article on this website that the company was a total fake.
So at this point, I am just updating the information that I recieved with my correspondance with this company so that no one else gets scammed by them.
