As Tray Computers Absolute Computers Repair, Inc -Work-at-Home SCAM! I almost got taken, but did my research!

I applied for a work-at-home job off of a regional job search and was contacted by a representative - Lisa Smith, Director for Employment from "Absolute Computers Repair".

At the bottom of the initial email, her signature contained a link to their company website. She claimed via email that it was currently "under construction" and would be up and running by the time I began to work for them. That was my first indication of "Hmmm.."

We continued email communication with a back-and-forth exchange concerning job description & duties, interview questions (exactly the same questions as I've seen on other reports listed on this site) and such.

Offerings with the job were: $915/week for part-time clerical work, free laptop, scanner, copier.

Similar to other rip-off postings, she told me the next procedure was for them to send me the office equipment and a check to purchase the accounting software they mentioned. She termed the procedure a "Test of Trust" - it's outlined below:

Test of Trust
Test of Trust would involve you handling funds on behalf of the Company, to test your honestly and Trust worthiness regarding handling financial transactions and information. The test of trust is your first call to duty before you can be accepted fully to start work formally. You would be receiving payment from one of our Company's Client in form of Money Orders, check, cash or Bank Transfer. You are expected to process it, document it, purchase BS/1 and peach tree software, deduct Your signing fee and pay a shipper to that will ship your working equipments to you (details on where and how to purchase the softwares would be made available to you soon). Which is the only financial transaction you would be required to handle on your own, every all other future financial transactions would be officially handled by the Company's Account section.

Prior to these email exchanges, I went out to Google the company and found absolutely nothing (no pun intended). DO YOUR RESEARCH, FOLKS! After receiving this email, I went out to the website that I had viewed the listing and the job posting was no longer there. I emailed the job listing parent company, and they verified that they pulled the posting.

Thank God I did my research, and ended up on this site for confirmation of my intuition. The old cliche holds true: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!"

I plan to continue the email exchanges with this "Lisa Smith - Director for Employment" with this bogus company and then let them know that I reported them on this site.
