Yes, I know I deserve this for buying from the street, but I just want to post this for other people not to get tricked.
I guy approced me at the sunnyvale Fry's electronic in California. He said that the he just picked up an order of G-6-1 Profesional Home Theather for his boss and they accidentally gave him an extra one. He said he was far from home and if his boss saw the extra one he would just keep it himself. So he was willing to sell the extra one at a very low price.
He got my attention and brougth me over to his car, where he must had some other 7 or so system of the same type. I got my iphone out and went to to website that appears on the box and yes, the retail price is $1,999 as shown on the fake website. As a second check on went to google and found the samething selling for $1200 on ebay. So I figure, OK, I can buy this thing.
The guy wanted $600 for it.
I told him the most I can get out my ATM is $300. He said that is way to cheap I can't do that. He asked if I had any additional money. I pulled $40 from my pocket, which is all I had. Then he said, Ok I will take the $340.
I asked if I could see his lisence and write down his license place just make sure his is not ripping me off: He said no problem. His Lisence had his picture and his Nane was Paul, I can't recall his last name. His car license plate was 6EBK323. He flashed his business card. I just looked at the name and it was also Paul and the address was in San Ramon, CA which made sence why he would not take the system to his home, because it was far away and he had to bring to other soon to his boss. As an extra step, I asked if I could call his cell number 925 335-3090 on the busines card and sure enough his cell phone rang when I called it. So I felt good it was not being ripped off.
Now, that I look on line, I see that this is a ripoff that is going on. The systems are not woth this much. I have not even tested it, so I hope it makes some sound for the $340 I paid for it.
For those that have been ripped off worst and paid much more for this or for the othorities that want justice you can follow up with the info provided on this post. As for me, I deserve this for doing such deals and will just take it as a life learning experince. The guy never returned my phone calls and I don't have time to bring justice.
