I had a horrible experience with this firm. Yes, in the end, my debts were discharged under Chapter 7. However, I went thru hell getting there. First of all, you never truly speak to a Lawyer, I may have met with one the very first time I went in to discuss my situation - but I'm still not sure. Any time you call their phone number, which is always and only a 1-800 number, you are told you will speak to one of their 'experienced bankruptcy attornies' which is a blatant lie. These are kids/customer service reps who seem to contradict eachother and not know what the hell they are talking about 80% of the time. I went thru this for about a year. I waited forever to get help when a court ordered my bank account closed and I could not reach my funds. I was never even warned about this potential situation while I was paying off my lawyer. I went uptown to an office to meet with a 'lawyer' to sign off on my petition when I had payed off the legal fees. I waited in the waiting room for at least 1/2 an hour and was told by a rude receptionist - if you can even call her that - that I needed to fill out a bunch of paperwork. When I realized it was paperwork I had filled out a year earlier when I initially met with a lawyer, I brought it to her attention and asked if I still needed to fill it out. She ignored me and said "yes, you need to fill this out." She did not ask what I was there for and I told her I had an appointment to sign my petition. She obviously did not care or listen. While waiting over 40 minutes, I voiced my anger to the 'lawyer' when I finally got in her office. I'm sure she was not a lawyer. She had the nerve to say to me, "Oh - you should have said you were here just to sign, I could have taken care of you in 5 minutes." What?!?!?!?!? I told her this was total b-s and that I was extremely p-d off about what a waste of time this was and how rude their service was for the absurd amount in legal fees I had just paid. She pseudo-apologized and said she would be emailing me in the next couple days, my court date and time and that the would "Rush" it because I could not get into my bank account. Of course, days and days passed, with several calls to worthless customer service and with no way of communicating with that specific office, it took another 2 weeks to get my date and to get my account re-opened thru a court order now that the petition was finally filed. I waited for a lawyer to show up at my court date for over an hour 1/2. I was told to be there early and I was. The name on the sheet at court did not match who actually came to represent me. I went to a pay phone after waiting this long and called customer service to ask where the F my lawyer was and they put me on hole 5 minutes then said she should be there. I went into the waiting room and this rude fat ugly lawyer called my name a moment later and said she had been looking for me for the last hour! What?!?! I had sat in that room for over an hour 1/2 WAITING for a lawyer to call my name, saw her deal with other people and she never, not once, called my name until I stepped out to call the customer service number to ask where my lawyer was. She was unbelievably rude and when I told her I'd been waiting that long she said, "well, I've been here since 8am. So what." I could have physically hurt that woman, but my name got called in to see the judge about 10 seconds later. Who the F do these people think they are?!?! Do Not, I repeat, Do Not use Macey Aleman/Legal Helpers for your bankruptcy. Truly a Horror Story!!
