On November 17 I purchased two boxes of shells that totaled $86. When arrived home I discovered the shells would not work in my gun, I have a 300 wsm and the shells were 300 sm, I did not know there was a difference and they did not tell me that at the store either. Well, I live a hour away from Gander Mountain so I waited until the next day to go back, since I had to be in the area anyway. I arrived at the store and explained to customer service what had happened, she then informed me that they did not give refunds or exchanges for ammo. I asked to speak to a manager so they called the "Hunting Manager" I explained to him what happened and that I have spent several thousand dollars in his store, buying a $1200 gun, deer stands, bows and arrows and numerous assesseries and that I work hard for my money and that I needed my money back so I could buy the right shells for my gun. He said it was against store policy, I said I can see his point on most returned ammo but there are exeptions to the rule and this is one of them. He still refused to help me and the entire staff was standing around him whispering and looking at me like I was a criminal or something. Yes I will admit, I got angry, very angry because of all the money I have spent in this store in the past and they did not care about that or the fact that I was about to loose $86. So I slamed the shells down on the counter I told them to keep them, I could not use them and that I would not buy another F*@#* thing from Gander Mountain I should not have said that, but I was so upset about the staff not caring about me loosing my money or being a customer. Gander Mountain claims to have expert outdoorsman working for them, if that is true they could have examined those boxes of shells and seen there was nothing wrong with them, and helped me and kept me as a customer. I or anyone I know does not intend on purchasing anyhing else from any Gander Mountain. Academy is cheaper on prices anyway, Gander Mountain wants $32 for a box of regular Winchester 30-30 shells and you can get the same box of shells at Academy for $14.99, somebody is price gouging! Or they do not really have experts working for them just people that do'nt have a clue!!! Thank you, one unhappy customer!!!
