Beware all!!! I have just read another report from another individual that has been Ripped-Off by American's Choice Reader Service.
My daughter signed up for a Free trial offer online for something completely different. A couple days later she recieved a phone call from America's Choice offering her a free subscription to a magazine and then they talked her into another subscription for a one time fee of $20.00. She gave them her credit card information for the one time fee. Shortly after this, our mail box was FULL on a daily basis with all the magazines. I asked her what was going on, if she knew where all these magazines where coming from when she told me that she wasn't sure but thought it was this company as it was the only possiblity.
This was quickly confirmed as their payments quickly MAXED out her credit card! When they could no longer recieve payment via her card, they began calling relentlecly and sending threatning bills/collection notices. I contacted the company to confirm what the $1300.00 plus charge was when they explained to me that is was for magazine subscriptions that my daughter supposably ordered. She NEVER signed a contract and NEVER ordered these magazines!!! I explained this to them and they told me that they had a recorded statement of her confirming that she agreed to pay this outragous amount of money for magazines! They assured me that she had ok'd all this and that they would get the recording and let me listen to it. I told them this is exactly what I wanted them to do in which I have never heard from them again via the phone. I have tried to contact them for this "recording" to no avail.
Now we have recieved a notice that this is being turned over to collections. This is a scam!!!
These people are praying on folks!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOU, NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY!!!
Unless of course, you are comfortable spending THOUSANDS of dollars on MAGAZINES you don't even have to order, they will choose for you and just start sending them.
Oh, by the way, their intemidation in attempt to get you to pay these outragous charges is that they have already paid the magazine companies for your orders on your behalf and you have to pay them! THERE ARE NO CANCELLATIONS!!!
Hopefully this helps someone else to not fall into this TRAP!
Now we are trying despartly to pay off the credit card which has racked up MANY $49.95 charges plus all the OVER CREDIT LIMITS charges of $50.00 each along with other charges associated with this until we figured out what was going on!
