I recieved a call from a magazine service offering me 6 subscribtions to magazines of my choice. They did not identify themselves but told me that I was in good standing with there company and that they were going to offer me a reduced rate on subscriptions.
They began to reviewed my credit card information with me and I promptly hung up on them. Appearently, they had obtained my credit card information from a company that I had recently purchaced magazines from (Consumer Periodical Services). About two weeks later I recieved a statement from MAGAZINE SERVICES OF AMERICA in the mail notifying me of my new subscriptions.
I immediately checked my credit account and found that they had charged my account for the subscriptions without my authorization. This is not only dishonest, but illegal. I am following legal action in hopes to prevent this from happening to other consumers.
