I was looking for the address of America's Choice readers because I wanted to send a complaint to the better business bureau, and when I typed in America's Choice Readers the first two links that came up were for this website. I was shocked!
The same thing happened to me! I had come home from work, after a 10 hour day and was relaxing when the phone rang at 8:00pm. The woman had said that I had won a magazine subscription and a $1000 internet gift certificate, she also said she was calling long distance. I decided to listen to what she had to say, I should have hung up! She went on about how I could have four magazines for next to nothing. I tried to get out of it that day but I figured if I really decided that I didn't want these magazines I could always cancel, like any other subscription.
So for the next week, I had people calling me between the hours of 7:00pm and 9:00pm about this company, I was so tired half the time I just yessed them to death and when it came time for payment I gave them a credit card number, they said that a charge of $58 would be charged on that card, they NEVER said for how long!
So after a month I finally received these magazines. Then I got a bill in the mail for $58, I figured it was just a receipt for the charge on my credit card. Then they called me a month later saying I was late on the payment, at this point I hadn't even had time to read the magazines they had sent. I said that I was under the understanding that it was one payment and they said that I had to pay this amount for 4 years! So I said well I really don't need these so I'd like to cancel.
They went on to tell me that I could never cancel because this company orders these magazines in bulk and that I'm saving so much money because on the news stands that would be twice the price. So I said well I'm sorry but I don't need these magazines so please cancel my order and they refused. They said that I had ONLY 3 DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE to cancel this order, meanwhile I was never sent anything in the mail, only the magazines a month later.
Today they even called me on my cell phone AND they called me two days ago trying to get my business again! They didn't say where they were calling from they just said I had won something.
I just don't want these magazines. They are pilling up in my house. I read to contact the Attorney General's Office in Montana and ask for Mike McGrath. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? Thanks.
