Don't apply

I am so glad that I have found this site!!!
I went in for an "interview" yesterday and I was given a heads up in the elevator by an employee of a different company on the same floor. I was told that day in and day out there is major traffic going up to this business and 90% are for job interviews. I was also told that nobody except for the "major players" is there for longer than 2 weeks.By major players I am referring to the people running the scam. Let me tell you what is really going on here.

First, go to EQM's website at eqmdallas.com

Notice in "about us" that not one person is over 30 years old. The website is cheap, vague, and with no additional contacts other than who to submit a resume to.

GOOGLE this company - all that shows up are job openings, no other company info available through any other site (which by the way is a RED FLAG as this is what happens when you google any other companies like this)

Notice Elena Stein— this is apperantly the woman who started this company, yet when going in for the interview she is the woman sitting behind the front desk acting as a receptionist.

What these people do is hire unsuspecting people to go and make money for them while receiving very little pay and working very long hours. They make a big show of promotions, act like they are proffessionals (but wear the cheapest suits I have ever seen) and give strange interviews to deter you from getting the main idea.
What is advertised as a marketing position is actually door to door sales, or selling products in front of some store. This is in fact not marketing. There is no such thing as an entry level marketing position that does not require at least a bachelors degree.

I need not go into great detail about my experience, as others have done a great job in doing so, my main goal here is to warn others and give a little advice to keep them from getting burned.

There are many companies like this one, including zephyr international, universal endeavors, 3d promotions, dallas edge, to name a few.

Anyone who is contacted by these companies should simply hang up the phone, or if you want to have a little fun with them ask the person who actually calls you what their position is. Ask who their parent company is. Also ask how you are going to be paid, and if they tell you that it is commissions in advance, ask them how do they know what to pay in commissions if they don't know how much you are going to sell. Quite honestly this is impossible, as I have been in sales for years. That would be like saying a bartender recieves their tips at the begining of their shift rather than at the end. If no one has yet to give a tip, how could you possibly determine what to pay?

Make sure you GOOGLE any business before going to the appoinment. If your search results only return with job oppportunities then it is a scam.

Also, anyone who has a rebuttal in favor of said company is in fact one of the people who is running such a scam, with rebuttals like "you are just lazy" and "this job is for certain types of people" which is true— certain types of people that will work their fingers to the bone for little pay— and try putting one of these companies on a resume!!! You will be waiting tables or digging ditches in no time.

Having been in sales I know first hand that any legit company does not conduct their interviews the way they do, and the office structure is completely different. If you need a sales job that bad, I would suggest sending your resume to a company that sells copiers. They ask for little experience, but they have a decent base pay and the commissions are very rewarding, and you can get a good job with that on your resume. Trust me, I know!
