Sometime in mid March we had a warm day and decided to have a cookout. While gathering all the things needed, my 16 month old grandson grabbed the lighter fluid and spilled it down the front of his shirt. My daughter did not want to take any chances and took him to the E.R. To ensure he had not ingested any. While there the hospital notified children services. The hospital was told by children services not to allow my daughter and grandson to leave un til they gave the ok. My daughter and grandson were detained for about 4 hours while children services came to our home. We own a double and my husband and I live on the lower half and my daughter, grandson, and my grandson's father live on the upper. When children services arrived they looked thru the entire house and stated everything seemed ok just to make sure and keep all the chemicals up. They then went to a car and got on a cell phone. I wandered what they were doing why they had not left, the next thing I know Metrich is at my home stating they had a report of a possable Meth lab. Now I have never seen a meth lab but I am pretty sure it is not something you can pick up and slide in a drawer to hide. We were forced to leave our home and stand on the sidewalk for two hours while our home was searched. They found nothing and I asked one of the officers why children services felt we had a meth lab. He stated because we had anti-freeze on the porch and a fan in the window when it wasn't summer. On July 25th my daughter gave birth to my grandaughter, a few hours after her c-section a nurse came into her room and asked me to leave. She then told my daughter she had to tell her something that she could lose her job over. She stated that children services had called the hospital saying they wanted my daughter and grandaughter tested for Meth. My daughters doctor refused. A nurse went to my daughter while she was in recovery and out of it and took urine from her cathater bag they swabbed my grandaughter for urine and tested them. Both came back negative. My daughter called children services to confront them and they denird calling the hospital stating that was illegal without a court order. My daughter informed them that she had already been told by hospital staff and she was suing them.in June my grandson's dog chewed thru the child gate and my grandson got outside. My husband got him but not before the police were called. The officers saw where the gate had been chewed and no charges were filed. Again here come children services. They had to agree the gate was chewed and the case was shortly closed. On August 29th my daughter got her own home and on the 6th had a housewarming party. One of her friends who had to much to drink spent the night. My daughter did not drink and was watching the kids. The next morning my grandson unlocked the door and got out again. Police were called again one of the officers told me I don't know how he does it but he opened the door and got out three or four times since I have been here, My daughter was given a sobriety test and passed. No charges were filed. The next thing we knew children services was there and took my grandchildren. No interventions such as putting locks higher up on the doors NOTHING just removed them to foster care. My daughter asked if my husband and myself could take the children but no we have to be deemed "suitable"The next day was the initial hearing to tell my daughter why her children were removed she was told by one of the caseworkers, You will be asked if you want a lawyer but if you say yes it will be at least six months before you get your children. My daughter did not take a lawyer at that time. She was told the reason her children were removed was because they were left un attended. My daughter was asleep in her bed and both of my grandchildren had been asleep in their beds prior to my granson getting out. I guess going by the way children services think no mother should have their children if they are going to do something so horrible as to sleep. My daughter then asked after the hearing how long it would be before she got her children and was told it will be at least six months. At that point we got a lawyer. That is when I learned that at least in Ohio children services is ran by each individual county not by state they can make and break their own rules on a whim or just because they don't like you. My husband and I had to be fingerprinted and go thru a home study. This was very insulting to me. I am a nurse and a prior volunteer guardian for Catholic Charities. Our home study was done on the 15th and we had a wobbly stair and was told we needed a safety inspection from the fire dept. My husband and I were able to see our granchildren for only a few minutes while we were waiting to get fingerprinted. The supervisor told us watch him close some how he was able to open the door twice here and tried to get out. My daughter is only allowed to see her children two times a week for one hour. This is in the best interest of the children? These people think they are soooo much better then anyone else because they HELP THE CHILDREN Yeah right. My husband and I aren't allowed any visitation Per their rules. My granson has always been a grandmas boy and now I cant even see him? Sounds like thats in his best interest. My daughter said on her last visit he kept going to the door knocking saying NaNa. On a prior visit my grandson kept pulling at his shirt saying ow when my daughter looked he had a big bruise in the middle of his back with red welts. My daughter called the police and was told if he was at a foster home children services had to handle it. It took a phone call from our lawyer before anyone would check on him and then they tried to say it was old. Give me a break old areas aren't red. If people don't start speaking up more and more of our children and families will be destroyed by the people who are suppose to protect the children. We need to go to our congressmen and senators and let them know something has to be done. People who abuse their children do not take them to the ER they are found dead with people saying we found multiple poorly healed fractures. Some day a child wil be injured or drink something they shouldn't and that mom will be afraid to take them for help because she will fear losing them. That will be the fault of Children services and us for not speaking out and fighting for our children.
