My friends and I have been lied to and taken advantage of by a man we knew as Dean Pannel. He claimed to be looking for contractors to go to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to work on FEMA contracts to repair and rebuild the flood damaged area. He had FEMA IDs and many construction contacts for work, rentals, and equipment. He took our money for rental houses, plane tickets, and equipment to do the work in Iowa. He wrote up contracts and receipts for all the money he collected. He even had us make contact with officals in Iowa. He told enough truth for everything to pan out as truth. And when we researched his name and the Iowa info, all we found was that the Iowa info was true and no flags came up with his name.
When it came time to leave for Iowa he couldn't be found and wasn't answering his phone. Only when his voice mail filled up did we find out his name was Steve. When we searched the name Steve Pannell (after having searched the name Pannell spelled all the different ways he spelled it on our contracts) we found all the rip off reports about him and a blog dedicated to his con stories.
If you have been ripped off by this man file a report with your local authorites ASAP. He needs to be in prison and stay there. The only way to ensure he stays in jail is for every victim to come forward and get the word out.
