In February Steve Pannell collected a fair amount of cash from me and from some friends. His MO at my home was to arrive with my friend, be super charming, act like I am doing him a favor, and begin the proposed project BEFORE I had the opportunity to take out a contractor's lien. Out of guilt, I gave him $10K as a down payment. Within a week, and about $3K worth of work by a bunch of guys he probably never paid and some damage amounting to $3500 and not paying the subs, he and the workers stopped showing up. I heard from him frequently and earnestly, but no work was done and no money returned. Fortunately, I hired the subs myself, did some work myself, and met some really nice people who helped me complete the project and am basically out $13,500. This guy could really have hurt me if more damage was done or if he had been working on an area of the home I was using. He is a thief and a liar.
