Steve Pannell met my sister at an upscale restraunt/bar. Told her he was a contractor/developer in Jax. Fla. Looking to expand into the St. Augustine area. She told him our parents had poperties in the area that need some remodeling. He told her he could do them at a greatly reduced price to help establish his company in the area. She introduced his to our elderly parents. They loved him. He wined and dinned them, gave them his undivided attention.
They contracted him to do some remoleling on 2 houses. He began on both but before the could be completed. The housing department of St. Johns County stopped work because no permits had been pulled. He convience our parents and my sister that he was working under a freinds license in Jax. Because he was saving them so much money he didn't pull any permits. He convenced my sister to pose as owner/contractor so he and his friend? Wouldn't get in trouble.
Meanwhile Steve is courting and conviencing my elderly parents to invest in a no lose, win/win deal in Maggie Valley North Carolina. The scam was to invest there money for them in property and log cabin kits that he put togather, orchestrate, sell and split the profits.in joint forces with partner Jim Rerisi they set up shop in Maggy Valley under the names Liberty Mountain Homes and Old World contracting.
He and his partner managed to con over $145,000 of my elderly parents retirement. Plus there has been additional expence to pay fines, pull permits and replace and repair the meager amount of actual work he'd contracted. The maggie Valley development was no more than a farse, No clearing was done, no kits were actally purchased, and the local bank was also coned into lending money to these theives and the land was forclosed upon.
Steve Pannell and his partner need to be stopped! How can you lie, cheat and steal from inocent people and this not be a crime?
