Moving Van Lines, Inc
Liars, misrepresentation, damaged goods, at their mercy, total nightmare, tampa

I was moving from Tampa, FL to Canton, GA. I was given a low estimate of $1,335.02 which Moving Van Lines, Inc. Normally provides to reel you in. Upon arrival on the day of my move, 8/6/08, that quote almost tripled, going to $3,362.00. They rely on the fact that you have planned everything in your life for that day so they know you will more than likely be forced to accept the increase. I was guranteed by Kim, the salesperson, that my goods would be delivered in GA on the following Saturday, 8/9/08. Saturday, 8/9/08, came and went and no truck arrived and ther was no phone call. We frantically called their office all weekend and got no one and received no returned calls. Finally on Monday I got in touch with someone at their office who laughed at me and informed me that it didn't matter what I was told that if I read the small print on the back of the contract it says they have 21 days to deliver my goods. We then spoke to the warehouse/dipatcher and found out that my goods had been unloaded from the truck they were loaded on on 8/6/08 and were stting in a warehouse still in Tampa, FL, and they would stay there until they had enough moves going to GA to make it financially beneficial for them to bring them to me. After contaacting the police in Tampa for advice, we called Moving Van Lines, Inc. The following Wed., 8/13/08, and my husband and I told them we were going to drive down to Tampa to pick my things up from their warehouse. The dispatcher told us we didn't need to do that because he assures us my things would be in GA that following Sat., 8/16/08. We allowed this SAturday, 8/16/08, to come and there was no truck or phone call from them just as the last Saturday had occurred. Again we called all weekend and got no one and no return call. The following Monday we called them again and were told to "sit back and relax" and that my things would "be there when they get there". They told us that they provide 600 moves a month and have an entire fleet of trucks and my things woud get here eventually. The truck finally arrived the following Tuesday, 8/19/08, almost two weeks after the date I was assured my things would be delivered. There was ony one driver and he proved to be very informative. He told us that this cmpany only has one truck, not a fleet, that at each delvery city he is instructed my Moving Van Lines, Inc. To stop at Home Depot when he arrive in town and pick up some Mexicans to help him unload my goods, which he did. He said this is how they deliver goods in each city they deliver to in order to save monry. My belongings were not wrapped in blankets as I was told they would be. They were wrapped in black plastic (like garbage bags are made of) and bubble wrap and I had many items such as solid wood dining chairs that were wrapped in absolutely NOTHING. My bedroom furniture and dining furnitire was chipped and had chunks of wood missing from them as well as broken tables, pictures and home decor. It was a compte nightmare and I cried for weeks while calling and begging these people to bring me my things and each time was met with laughter and told to relax and that there was nothing I could do. One of the managers eventually admitted to me that the sales people are instructed to tell the consumer what they want to hear in order to get the sell and then handle every move the way they handle mine. The driver told my husband and I that almost every single delivery he makes it met by livid customers who have been lied to and double or triple charged. There are no return phone cals once these people have your goods and you are at their mercy. This was a true nightmare and I beg everyone to refrain from falling for this mean and deliberate misrepresentation of services. This company should be put out of business and sued for every dime they have stolen from consumers. DO NOT USE!!!
