We went to Maui for a weeks vacation. We have been to Ruth Chris restaurants in several places in US and Mexico. We decided to try the one in Maui because it was close to where we were staying. They are advertising themselves as an upscale restaurant on many talk shows lately and someone such as myself needs to bring the truth to light.
First of all we did not have to wait to get in and were escorted directly to a table.
The Waiter showed up and we ordered a drink. Took so long I had to get waiter to see if he put order in. While my wife and I had Our drink we noticed that the waiter was completely engrossed with the guests at a table near ours. So engrossed that we figured he knew the people well. We were at this point being neglected.
We finally ordered and once again our waiter spent all his time with this one table.
We finally got our salad and they were not what I would consider appropriate to this type of menu. Wimpy to say the least. When we got the main course, two steaks, one bite said something was wrong. My steak was way overcooked and so was my wife's. The accompanied side dishes were mixed up and everything was just not as you would expect. The Manager was near by assisting someone else with problems and came to our table. I explained our problem and to my surprise he did not offer to correct it or rectify the bill. We finally decided to just leave.
When I got back home to Arizona I faxed a letter to Ruth Chris headquarters.
I received a letter informing me this establishment was a franchise location and they were sorry to hear of the bad experience. They informed me that they had contacted the owner of the franchise and that he would be in contact with me forthwith. I am still waiting. If you hear ads for Ruth Chris Steakhouse telling you what great steaks they have, it's all BS.
