Longhorn Steakouse Springfield, Illinois - Horrendous steaks, sub-par drinks & terrible service - Longhorn Steakhouse, Springfield

My husband and I are lifelong residents of Springfield, and decided to give Longhorn steakhouse a try for the first time last Friday night, 9/21. We were extremely disappointed in the quality of the meal, as well as in the service. We each ordered Renegade Sirloin steaks, medium rare. Upon ordering, I asked the waiter, Justin, if medium-rare was NOT bloody, which he confirmed, saying it was pink in the middle. When our steaks arrived (virtually at the same time as our salads), they were both bloody and appeared to have been seared only, with no cook time in the oven. They were extremely tough and gristly as well. Our knives could barely cut them. After one bite that I had to spit out because it was too chewy to eat, we both ordered another steak. When the 2nd steaks came, the man who brought them (not Justin) said these were cooked medium (implying we didn't know what we were talking about). These steaks were also bloody (though not quite as much) and were even more gristly and tough than the first ones. The sear was overdone, almost burnt. We shaved off very thin pieces aroung the perimeter in order to be able to eat at least a little bit. My husband's was so gristly that it looked like a bloody, mangled mess. He gave up using his knife and had to pick it up to get some bites around the gristle. We both managed to get some of them down & brought the rest home for our dog. We'd given up on getting a decent steak at that point. To add insult to injury, our waiter (& the man who brought us the 2nd set of steaks) were not friendly at all - borderline rude in fact. Justin wouldn't even make eye contact with us, much less ask how our 2nd steaks were. When we finished eating as much as we could, he finally came back asking if we wanted dessert or our ticket. Even the drinks were sub-par, seeming to have very little alcohol. We spent almost $70 on dinner, yet had to come home to eat afterwards. $70 is a lot of money for us. We've had delicious, tender & perfectly cooked steaks at Ruby Tuesdays, which isn't even a steakhouse!!
