I want to warn all legitimate job seekers in the Northern Virginia area about Global Business Group in McLean, VA. My husband, who is validly seeking a REAL job, submitted his resume to COR Concepts in McLean. He was contacted within a day and asked to come in the next day for an interview.
When he showed up, he was wondering why there were actually two businesses - - Global Business Group and COR Concepts - - operating in the same office. There were also 4 other job seekers lined up in the waiting area - - all for interviews. (Come on, what company does that?) He met with Renee, the "CEO" of Global Business Group, for all of 5 minutes. He was invited back for a "Second Interview" today, which he was told would involve shadowing another Account Manager for a day.
My husband was thrilled. Renee had given him a chance! After 3 months of seeking employment after we just moved to the area, he was finally close to getting a job!
Today he went back and shadowed Mark from 9:30 AM - 6:15 PM (keep in mind, this is UNPAID as it is still part of the "interview"). When he came home tonight, he told me about his experiences. They were SOLICITING innocent business owners!!! It was door-to-door sales, but the worst kind. What they were "selling" was an opportunity for a lower Verizon bill for the business owner. Evidently, COR Concepts (or Global Business Group... Whatever you want to call them), has a "contract" with Verizon whereby the COR employees will try to help Verizon customers lower their monthly bills.in other words, they are the MIDDLEMEN between Verizon and the customers.
If you are a business owner and you are approached by a COR Concepts or Global Business Group employee claiming to be working on behalf of Verizon, BEWARE! If you want to lower your Verizon bill, just pick up the phone and call Verizon yourself. You'll have the same results and not have to deal with the door-to-door solicitor.
I wonder if Verizon knows about this?
Anyway, my husband said he was yelled at several times today by business owners and made to feel like total scum. He was totally humiliated at the end of the day.
He also informed me that the job is commission-only. This is what really set off the alarm bells for me. What legitimate advertising company (which they claim to be on their website) is commission-only?
So, I did some research. THANK YOU usacomplaints.com for SAVING us!!! We found multiple angry job seekers who encountered COR Concepts and figured out that it is nothing more than a pyramid scheme with offers of working your way up to "management" or even owning your own company if you just work hard.
When Mark called tonight to offer my husband the job, I actually answered the phone and gave him a piece of my mind. (Mark, if you are reading this, PLEASE take my advice and get out!)
It is absolutely HORRIBLE that businesses like this are still in existence. I don't know how they sleep at night. I can't believe they wasted so much of my husband's time, time that he could have otherwise spent finding a LEGITIMATE job. Not to mention, getting him so excited that a possible job was on the horizon after such a long dry spell, and then crushing him down when he found out what a SCAM the whole thing is!
I had never even heard of usacomplaints.com before I started researching this today, but I am so grateful to this website.
I am posting this because I did a search for "Global Marketing Group" on usacomplaints.com and did not find anything. People should know that all of the posts about cor concepts can also be said about global business group.
