Complaint / Review
Global Advertising
Not a non-profit

I got a bite! I was so excited that finally I may have a job opportunity in Chicago, well Lombard, well that's what the description said anyway. I just received my Master's degree and have been searching desperately for a job for the past two months. Finally I get an e-mail saying I should call to set up an interview. Well right off the bat I knew this was strange but hope still remained as I have to cling to something to keep me going.

Then I began trying to research the company before calling. I was unable to find any website for the company, only other job listings. Then I googled Global Advertising scam. I discovered this website with a slew of similar complaints and stories of those who actually went to the interview. I went to the announcement and saw that there was a name and contact number listed so I decided to call.

I mentioned that I received an e-mail saying I should call for an interivew but had seen these reports online saying it was a scam and did they have any response. I was told by the woman that anyone could write what they pleased regarding Global Advertising but I could meet with a manager to make up my own mind. Defensive, no? I asked if there was a website I could visit to see for myself what the company was about.

She was very kind and gave me the address. This is where I discovered that although probably a real company, not the company that was advertised in the job announcement. I was under the impression that it was a non-profit when in fact they are a bottom tier pusher of polyester toys, iron-on sports badges and Father's Day tool sets.

The website is unprofessional and was only copyrighted in 2008 which leads me to wonder what they were doing before hand as they claim to have been in business for five years. Also the announcement stated the position would be in Lombard but the location on the website states Addison. And the website gives two numbers one phone (shown as P) and one fax (shown as F); on the announcement the number shown to call is what the website shows as the fax. It's the number I called and was answered by the "receptionist"... Dubious. Just beware...
