My daughter's "father" is a dead beat dad. We used to have shared time with her, one week with me and one week with him. This worked well for the first 5 years of her life. He would also have his mother or a girlfriend take care of our daughter & her needs while she was in "his care".
However, 3 1/2 years ago he dropped her off on my door step and asked if I could take her for a few days of his week, while he gets some things in his life "in order". That was the beginning of the end of his visitation.
He went from taking her twice a week, to twice a month, to then twice a year. He lives less than 10 miles from our home and does not see her. He does not call her or participate in any activities, including her birthdays. The only time that he does spend with is when his mother (whom which he lives with) takes my daughter and forces him to spend time with her.
He currently owes me over $8000 in child support. He quits his job at least once a year (sometimes twice) and won't pay child support for months at a time. The longest he went was 7 months without paying a dime. Since 2006 I have not received a full monthly payment. He also did not file his taxes in an effort to stop me from getting his refund and tax stimulous check.
Everytime I filed a complaint with Montgomery County Domestic Relations Department, I have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for a hearing. Which he then does not show up for. I then have to schedule another hearing and wait another 6 weeks for. I have been to more hearings that resulted in nothing.
In 2007 I went to 3 hearings in which he was a no show, each being promised that a warrent would be issued for his arrest. Even when he did not show before the judge at the fourth hearing, they still did not issue the warrent nor make an attempt to arrest him.
I am tired of not getting any support, from John or "the system". My daughter can't get the things she needs for school & camp. All the while he gets to go party every night, go to Eagles games, and have a free life.
My husband has told me that he wants to adopt my daughter and allow John to reliquish his rights, ultimately releasing him from paying child support. John will not sign off on the paperwork because he doesn't want anyone "taking his daughter", but yet he still won't spend time with her or support her.
If anyone has any advise or can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
I can not afford a lawyer, so I have to deal with this all on my own!
