Jump Oil Company
I was wrongfully terminated

I became employed by Jump Stop Oil company in February. I started at my hiring location with the understanding that I would be training part-time for 2 weeks.

At the end of my 3rd day, I was called to fill-in and close another branch store... Alone! Having never worked this 2nd store, I had to call for location of the alarm, the code, where to leave the money, and how to lock the "keyless" door.

Fast forward... 6 weeks... I was told I was going to an assistant manager position. Wow! That was fast! This position requires 30 days training. Minimal. I received... 2 weeks horrible training... And turned lose to do the paperwork and store opening at yet another location!

The paperwork to be done (according to Jump policy), was not properly taught to me. This created my wonderful District Manager to continuosly climb my cage DAILY!

By climb my cage... She screamed at me in front of customers, belittled me in front of other employees, and tell me to "get it together" or else! She (the district mgr) treated my direct manager the same (if not sometimes worse) than me.

Now for the exciting part... in May. That's right. 3 months after becoming asst mgr, I was told they were firing my manager. Take that day off I was told, so I wouldn't be there when it happened. She was fired for "Absolutely no legit reason", in my oppinion, other than I could save them alot of money by replacing her with me. See, Pat was the highest paid mgr in the company.
Now, that can't work when the obvious "pet mgr" to the district was making less than the hated Pat!

Onward we go. I took the position of manager without being correctly trained on payroll, reports, vendor handling, etc. But, that's ok... Another reason for the esteemed Dist Mgr to yell, and show her vast authority over others.

Now, just about 6 weeks later I was told I was being transferred to yet another store to manage! Yes... Store #4! I was not ask, did I want to transfer? Would I like the transfer? No i was told on a Wednesday afternoon that I WAS being transferred... Starting at 4am the following morning to a store I had never worked in! I tried to nask Teri, is there anything special I need to know about the store? My answer. (smartly).. It's just like any other c-store... Jesus! Just do the job... Im... Ok. I'll try.

Now the reason I was termed... The 4th store was n 18 hour store... I was used to a 24 hr, so there was no unlocking of doors to open... Just take over from the previous cashier... Etc... So, one very hectic day... New people, banking, vendoring, paperwork, shift change, etc. (all at the same time) my keys inadvertantly got left behind the counter (out of customer reach by the way). Not one of the cashiers bothered to call me and say they were there. I live 7 minutes from there... No problem going back up to get them. The following morning I got up at 3am to go open the store... Uh-oh. No keys!

I immediately called my districts phone. Hmmm. She was off for the day and her phone forwarded to one of the OWNERS... That's ok... He's a nice enough guy (this Jason I have met maybe 6 times) his answer... Call my asst mgr for his key.

My asst did not answer... Didn't wanna get called in... Sorry Therese... Ok. Another call to Jason... His answer (You better find a way to open)... Ok... A tracked down one of my clerks, drove into a part of the city I have never been to, got lost... Bad directions from a police officer, then a mad race to the cashiers house... Back to the store... Hurry. Open. Do everything that has to be done... Call Jason again... Store is open, but 45 minutes late... Finish my day... Go home...
Open the next day... July 10... Work my 10 hours... in walks Jason and Teri... I am informed that I am being termed... First time opening late... 2nd week in a strange store... Found out Jason has keys... Teri has keys... There are emergency placed keys (though they deny that) but no-one said... I'll bring over my keys to open... But this cannot happen again... Nope. I even ask Teri later the same day. And Jason... Am I going to lose my job over this? Teri's response, I don't know, I'm off today! Jason's response... I'll have to do a follow up... That was a quick followup... 24hrs. It normally took 2wksto get a straight answer to a simple question! But only 24hrs to get that answer!

So as you read this, you are not confusing dates... I became employed, double promoted and fired in a record time of 4 1/2 months!

This company is a disgrace to the c-store business, it's employees, and especially its handling of the public in general!

A very important note... I don't believe I was honestly fired over the key incident... I believe it was because I made waves over a much larger incident involving Teri, the wonder Dist Mgr! She became frustrated with me one day over some paperwork... And Yes... Slapped... Me up side the head, on camera... in front of witnesses, but after I reported it to Jason... The tape amgically doesn't show the incidents and the witnesses lost thier voices! This was never resolved, and I was told to let it go away!

I don't recommend anyone working for, shopping at, or otherwise having anything to do with any stores associated with JumpOil Company.

All of this is correct and true to the best of my knowledge and is stated through my opinion of the company listed.
