The AT&T U-Verse salesman ASSURED me he wasn't selling anything. He said it was a "service, " telling me to my face that the fiber optic conversion that was happening in my street was an AT&T thing and they were supposed to rewire and bundle my computer, satellite, and phone service so long as they were doing the conversion. I would need their package to continue with my phone, satellite, and Internet connections.
He stated that AT&T U-Verse owned my satellite provider, Direct TV. He said I would no longer need a satellite dish once I had the optic system in. (Wait, isn't THAT cable? No reply.)
He was a fast talker, that kid.
So if he was not a salesman WHY did I get an automated call this morning asking about my satisfaction with my "sales experience?"
Their receipt said to not call my satellite provider until AFTER they'd installed everything.
Last I looked it was a free country, so I called, and Direct TV set me straight. They are not owned by AT&T U-verse.
My next call was to cancel the AT&T U-Verse installation.
I am NOT amused by AT&T U-verse.
They LIED and evidently told their salespeople to LIE.
Maybe bundling might save me a whole five bucks a month. I lose more than that in my sofa.
I do not need 5 more TV channels to watch or a kiddie DVR or faster Internet connection. What I have is as fast as I need and I watch too much TV anyway.
I do NOT need to deal with a company that would not tell me if my monthly bill would go up after the introductory "honeymoon" period or answer if I was or was not locked in for the next few years with their "service."
I absolutely do NOT need to give my business to bald-faced LIARS.
And you betcha I'm going to check with my neighbors to make sure they haven't been taken in.
I've sent a letter of complaint to them about this, but knowing that might not do much good I'm posting here in case others have been lied to by this scam.
