I wish I would have seen this report sooner, as I would have known Comerica is a bank of thieves. I am a college student with many bills, but 5 years without an overdraft. My account balance was low, so I deposited $150. I received a statement from the branch stating my balance was $159. I spent $100 that day on various items. Later, I find out that each of those 7 purchases was charged an overdraft fee. My balance before the 7 overdraft fees was $58.17 POSITIVE. I had a statement from the bank, mail, and web banking all showing my positive balance until the overdrafts were applied. I called, they only could drop 2 of the charges (big whoop).
Comerica has a new system in place I'm told by a family member who works at corporate to generate more overdraft fees in which they can apply charges 3 days before and after they were made. For example, they charged my Red Lobster bill 3 days before I actually went so that it would apply to the $9 balance and cause an overdraft. This is criminal, I am closing my account and letting everyone know of this practice which is taking money away from hard-working Americans.
