First of all, I didn't buy First Texas Home, thank God!
Why we didn't buy their home? Because the salesman Phil Rochester, a really fat/sweaty/gross creature made us mad every time we went there to Forney to ask questions. Calling over the phone didn't work out because fat Phil (as we called him after seeing his 300 lbs of fat and sweat) is "too important" to call back, instead he has some monkey assistant to answer the phone and take messages.
Fat Phil never gets out of his chair, never greets anyone, never hands out his number or any info. Talking to him seems like a "privilege" and a waste of his time. On top of that he kept mentioning that he was a top salesman at his prior job, blah, blah, blah.
Fat Phil constantly refered to the home that we were interested in as the "low price range home" and made us feel very poor and unimportant. Then we realized that the spec homes were loaded with options, and that a basic homes comes with bare walls and carpet in the bathrooms! Fat Phil made a big deal about every option we asked for, drawing us graphs of what could be done and how they would do it. Then he bragged how flexibile they are and how people come in with their own ideas and drawing and how First Texas Homes enjoys working with buyers and goes out their way to accomdate their ideas. Funny, because every time we asked for something different Fat Phil answer was "can't do".
If we didn't want something basic feature that comes with the house and requested something else (we didn't want the fireplace) his response was "we are going to put it there and you have to pay for it, after you move in feel free to rip it out and build your own modifications!"
Overall, First Texas Homes are a joke, save your money and go somewhere else.in my own experience, every builder has some pros and cons, but with First Texas Homes it is all cons.
