Just like several other reports, clkbank charged my Amex for charges for a download service regcure.com.
I was offered a copy of Winzip 8.1. A throrough search of the web site convinced me I was downloading the latest copy of winzip from winzip. It turns out I was charged 29.95 and then 39.95 for a download service for downloading winzip 8.1. I was given a registration # and Sales order numbers
When I called Amex they said they could do nothing.
When I called Clkbank they said they could do nothing.
When I emailed regcure.com they put me in the electronic response we will answer you in the order received: nothing yet.
When I called winzip, the sent a helpful response:
Hello,
Sorry to hear of the problem.
Unless you purchased WinZip software from http://www.winzip.com, you have not purchased a registration for WinZip software.
You purchased a membership in in a download service which is not affiliated in any way with WinZip Computing. If I may suggest, you could request a refund from your credit card company for these charges unless you want a membership in their download service. If you check your credit card statement, you may also have been charged for additional services from them.
The cost of a single user license of WinZip software is $29.95 plus shipping if you choose to receive a CD by mail.
If you would like information on how to order WinZip software, please let me know.

I called amex back with this information and they agreed to remove the charges from my bill. They wanted a copy of the rip off report too. Case closed, and I hope amex can do more than I can in discouraging scams like this.
