I Have been with Direct TV since Jan. 05. On Feb. 08 I had to have a faulty receiver replaced. They own the receiver. I cancelled the service on May 13. They then billed my crdit card for $300 for early cancellation fee. They claim that when their equipment breaks and they relace it a new 18 month contract takes effect. I was not notified in writing or orally at any time since they replaced the part that malfunctioned. I wrote a letter to their BILLING DISPUTE DEPARMENT. The answer I received was in essence calling me a liar since they claimed all their agents ALWAYS give full details at the time of reordering parts. No proof of this statement was given. They lie and get away with theft.
