An employee of ours went to Walmart and cashed her paycheck. It was converted electronically and voided, however, they did not give the paycheck back to her.
Then on the same day they made another electronic conversion of the same check. When I noticed that our bank had paid the same check twice, I contacted the bank. They followed up on it and stopped payment on the 2nd electronic transfer. Telecheck handles all check approvals at Walmart and many other businesses that we deal with. Telecheck froze our account and we are now not able to write any checks at businesses that use them. It also affected my personal account which has nothing to do with the business account.
This happened on May 6th and we still have not been able to clear it. We have faxed Telecheck our bank statement (which I feel that our balance is no business of theirs) and a letter from the bank president stating that this check has been paid and other information they requested. We have faxed this 3 times. Each time we try to speak to anyone at Telecheck we get a different person.
We also contacted Walmart to no avail. We are at a loss as to what to do. We are filing a complaint with the Attorney General's office and our next step will be to get legal counsel. This has been a total nightmare for my business.
