I was applying for jobs last night and and am interested in getting back into sales, which I have done in the past. The ad with Bay Area Promotions, Inc looked real. I "quick" applied to that and a couple other job postings. While at work today my husband called and said a woman named Crystal called about a position at Bay Area Promotions, Inc. The first thought that popped into my head was SCAM. We are in the Midwest with no bay area, and the word promotions sounds like a blanket term that scammers use.
I got home and called, asking the girl on the phone real questions that a real employer would answer. I asked what the salary range for the position was. She said $30,000 to $40,000 but it would depend on commissions. I asked her about the management training program. Her replies to my questions were; it is paid training, it lasts six to ten weeks, and the "hiring manager" would further determine my pay or salary range. When I asked her if she could tell me more about Bay Area Promotions, she referred me to the website. Then she told me to call back if I was still interested. She did not want to answer my straightforward questions.
The first two posts are correct about this company, even though the poor grammar and bad spelling make them hard to read. Anyone with half a brain can make some calls and ask the right questions to determine if someone is a fraud or not. If they send you automated e-mails like the following with a number of open "positions", think twice. The following is the e-mail I received the very next morning after I applied:
Thank you for taking the time to send us your resume for review. We understand that today's job market can be very competitive and appreciate your interest in our company.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you! Upon review of your resume, you have been selected for a personal interview with our Manager. All of our
