Experian
Free credit report scam

I was blind sided by Experian. I fell for the oldest trick in the book without realizing it. Experian advertises FREE CREDIT REPORT then after getting all your information it requests a credit card number "which will not be used unless blah blah..."

After they get your number, you'll be allowed to see your report but what they don't mention is that they're automatically enrolling you in a plan and you have seven days to cancel otherwise they'll begin sucking $14.95 per month from your bank account for as long as you dose in your chair unaware of what's going on.

Another cute part of the scam includes prompting you to use a username and password to "occasionally check out your credit report" - yea right! Try doing that before seven days and you'll see you can't get in. Each time you attempt to sign in, a red lettered message will tell you it doesn't recognize you. Cute eh?

Experian has it planned in such a way that no matter what you do, short of appearing in person at corporate headquarters, nada, silch will work. You'll receive a rude awakening when you get your bank statement.

It's amazing how they can get away with wanton robbery. The only difference between Experian and thugs on the street is the thugs are on the street, Experian hides out in the internet.

The reason they got me is because last year I did the same thing online with no charge whatsover. I guess Experian had a full year to figure out a way around the "Free credit report every year" thing. I was lucky, I often check my bank statement on the internet and caught the charge pending. I immediately filed a complaint with the FTC and the bank. Check out the FTC site and you'll see the scam is an ongoing thing.
