Beware of this group of people. They will waste your time, treat you like garbage, overwork you and enjoy your sweat. They operate under the trade name IDN Group LLC. They ran an ad at craigslist which read 'Sales. Be your own boss. No experience - no problem! Will train!'. I responded to the ad and was immediately called for an interview. The interview was a joke.
The guy that interviewed me that he had interviewed a lot of people and it was only that he really liked my personality and would like me to start the following morning, and that my base pay would be $450 per week. The following morning when I arrived at their offices I was surprised because there was music blaring inside the small building, and when I opened the door, the room was full of people (about 18), mostly young, who were also hired and just starting.
So, this guy Chris started by showing us video clips of people who had made it selling Kirby vaccum cleaners. There were all very happy and succesful people, who owned mansions, jets, yatchs and were travelling all over the world, staying in expensive hotels. He told us that we only needed to do 15 demonstrations to his prospective buyers and that we did not have to worry about finding the buyers because he had someone who would do that for us (which was a lie).
The second day, I was shocked to find almost half of the people gone and by the third day only about 6 of us were remaining. That is when things started getting nasty. This guy Chris started asking us to go and sell this vaccuum cleaners to 9 of our family members, that week. He told us that if our family members refused to buy the expensive vaccum cleaners, we should tell them that if they purchsed the vaccum cleaner, they would earn us a trip to Hawaii. This, he told us, would push our family members to buy out of guilt. We gave him a list of our family members addresses and telephone numbers and the times that we were supposed to be there. He also told us to call when we arrived. So I decided to go to my cousin place.
When I arrived, I gave him a call as instructed. He ordered me to get my cousin over to the phone and he started persuading my cousin to buy the vaccuum cleaner. My cousin told him that he could not afford a $1700 vaccuum cleaner and that is when he started getting abusive, calling her names. My cousin was understandably angry and when i arrived back to the office, Mr Chris was telling everyone that my cousin was a loser, blah blah blah. I told Mr Chris that I had decided to quit, but he challenged me, saying that if I gave up, I was a loser.
So I decided to stay another week, but to cut a long story short, I decided to leave. He refused to compensate me for the time that I was there and the gas i had burnt, despite him saying that my base salary was $450 guaranteed. He simply said that he didn't care.
What worries me is that they always run their adverts at craigslist, but each time they change their approach. They operate at the same place, an old house which they converted into their office, and they use the name IDN group.
