On June 6th of I was approached by a young man selling magazines in a gas station parking lot. The young man was very polite, quite pleasant actually. He asked that I purchase magazines to help him raise money to go on a trip later in the summer. His name was Shawn Barker.
I spent $84.00 on magazines that I ordered for my children and their step father (for father's day). After a couple of days, I began to doubt my decision, so I called the phone number listed on my reciept. I called several times and was only able to leave a message and never received a return phone call.
On June 6th, I followed the directions provided for cancellation. I mailed it in as directed. Nothing...
I then followed up with a letter and another copy of the signed cancellation form and request for reimbursement. Still nothing.
Now the number I have has suprisingly been disconnected. No money, no gifts, just a good old fashion scam I suppose. I am planning on filing a complaint with the Alabama Better Business Bureau.
Thanks for letting me share my disappointing experience.
