Hi my name is Virginia, I raise and show Yorkies on a very small scale, I believe much like a lot of other small scale breeders. My dogs are my life and anything I can do to better their lives is done. All my dogs live in our home, they are very much a part of our family. I am very selective about my breeding program and when a female is retired at 3 to 4 years of age with no more than 2 to 3 litters having been produced they are either spayed and live with us for the rest of their lives or are adopted out to loving homes where they can be one on one. Where this is going is real simple, on Oct. 24 I received a call from a what I thought to be a very nice woman looking for an older dog for her daughter. I had a little girl that had surgery to remove part of the femoral head on her right leg. She had an injury from jumping off the couch. I did all the rehabilitation for her, and was told she could be bred because it was not hereditary however I felt it would be totally unfair to breed her and put stress from the additional weight on her leg. Fantasia slept with my husband, myself and 13 other Yorkies. It was hard for Fantasia to keep up with the other kids so I thought I would not be selfish and let her have a home of her home to be pampered and loved! I explained to this Pat Crabtree what was going on with Fantasia and that I would be willing to adopt her out after I had her spayed. She assured me that her daughter would have no problem spaying her, I should have known better than to trust anyone but I did. Pat Crabbtree picked up Fantasia, she signed her daughters name to the contract and off they went. A few months later, another woman brought her female in for breeding, when I asked to see the pedigree, I found that her dog came from the very woman that had taken Fantasia. At that time, this woman told me that Pat Crabbtree is one of the biggest breeders in Kansas. Commercial breeding facilities as they are called are not out for the preservation and betterment of the breed. I immediately called the Pat Crabbtree, she denied it was her that took Fantasia, telling me it was her sister, Pam Crabtree who took Fantasia for the daughter. When I asked for a contact number for her sister or her sisters daughter, I got the run around about they had just moved but she would have one of them contact me. Nothing ever came of that and then a grooming client of mine purchased a Yorkie from another family member of hers and asked me to evaluate it. She brought the paper work as well as a very large 4 month old Yorkie, the paper work was from this Pat Crabbtree in Kansas. The client gave me the web sight for Pat Crabbtree, I surfed the sight and found on the photo album page (second from the right in a red circle) what appears to be my Fantasia. Of course that was denied, supposedly it is, in her words one of her sires. Fantasia was a very happy little girl and now her eyes look so sad. My Fantasia ended up in what I suspect to be a puppy mill. I have anguished over this, and know there is nothing I can do. I know it will never happen again, because I have very little trust left in the human race. If I could get the word out and make Pat Crabtree's life as miserable as she has made mine knowing what Fantasia could be suffering. I think not, check out the standards on the AKC sight, you won't find parti listed as a qualifying color, or a standard Yorkie. I don't know where she got her information and maybe she thinks us to be so dumb as to not be able to check for accuracy of her statements. She needs to give us a little more credit. She claims that a Parti Yorkie won best of show at Crufts, the first and only Yorkshire Terrier to win Best in Show at Crufts was CH. Ozmillion's Mystification in 1997! There are more restrictions on what and how many of whatever breed you can breed in European countries thus why they were brought here to try to establish. The YTCA and AKC recently changed the Standard to include a disqualification for some specifications regarding color in order to try and squelch this new fad in Yorkies. Parti is actually a tri color and do we really believe these to be pure bred Yorkshire Terrier? With all the untruths what do you think is poor little Fantasia's fate?
